The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) announced yesterday that automotive-industry exhibitors at the upcoming 2018 SEMA Show (October 30–November 2 at the Las Vegas Convention Center) have voted to select the 2018 SEMA Award finalists. The award honors OEM automakers for producing accessory-friendly vehicles.

Finalists for the 2018 SEMA Award were selected in five categories: car, truck, 4×4/SUV, sport compact, and powersports vehicle—the latter of which is a newly created category for the SEMA Awards competition. Awards will be presented to winners at the SEMA Vehicle Reveal in Las Vegas on Monday, October 29, the day before the official opening of the 2018 SEMA show.

This year’s finalists in the five categories are:

  • SEMA Car of the Year: Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang
  • SEMA Truck of the Year: Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, RAM
  • SEMA 4×4/SUV of the Year: Chevrolet Tahoe, Jeep Wrangler, Toyota 4Runner
  • SEMA Sport Compact of the Year: Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla Hatch, Hyundai Veloster
  • SEMA Powersports Vehicle of the Year: Polaris RZR Turbo S, ROXOR by Mahindra, ROXOR Off-Roader, SHERP

Each year, SEMA collects votes for the SEMA Award from manufacturers scheduled to exhibit at the annual SEMA Show. Each manufacturer is allocated one vote in each of the five categories, and SEMA encourages manufacturers to vote for the vehicles that they believe present the accessory manufacturers with the greatest business opportunity by showcasing and launching aftermarket parts.

New vehicles from the current or next model year are eligible for votes.

According to SEMA, the award program creates awareness for aftermarket products and is an example of the ongoing collaboration SEMA has with automakers and aftermarket manufacturers to bring quality products to market.
