On Thursday FCA unveiled the limited-edition Mopar ’19 Dodge Challenger, a modified version of the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack built to celebrate 10 years of the Mopar factory-vehicle customization program.

Let’s face it. Even among those of us who fancy ourselves car guys, most of us don’t have the time, skill, or fortitude that it takes to invest months or even years of sweat equity into building a badass street machine on our own.

FCA knows that, and for the last 10 years they’ve been creating a shortcut for those of us with the means to slap down the bucks for a pre-packaged, modified muscle car, with a series of limited-edition vehicles.

It all started in 2010, with the Mopar ’10 Dodge Challenger. Factory-customized by the Mopar Division of what was then Chrysler Group LLC (this was before the FCA era), the modified 2010 Challenger R/T featured a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, a hood-venting system, a cold-air intake, and a front strut-tower brace with shock caps. The vehicle was also equipped with a rear strut-tower brace to stiffen the chassis for improved handling characteristics.

Since then, Mopar has released nine other factory-customized, limited-run Dodge, Chrysler, RAM, and Jeep vehicles prior to this year’s 10-year commemoration, including:

  • Mopar ’11 Dodge Charger
  • Mopar ’12  Chrysler 300
  • Mopar ’13 Dodge Dart
  • Mopar ’14 Dodge Challenger
  • Mopar ’15 Dodge Charger R/T
  • Mopar ’16 Ram Rebel
  • Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger
  • Mopar ’18 Dodge Durango

The Mopar ’19 Dodge Challenger packs a 392 cubic-inch HEMI V8 under the hood, producing 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard equipment, with an eight-speed automatic available as an option.

Other performance features include a cold air intake to boost airflow, Mopar strut braces to stiffen the structure and sharpen handling, and Brembo performance brakes dressed up with red calipers.

Like the adoption papers kids get with their Build-A-Bears, a birth certificate showing the manufacture date and build number comes with the Mopar ’19 Dodge Challenger, according to FCA. The kit also includes a full-color booklet engraved with the vehicle number and a rendering of the vehicle from the design team.

“Over the last decade, we’ve customized an impressive group of vehicles with exclusive Mopar performance parts and accessories that our enthusiast customers crave,” said Mark Bosanac, Head of Mopar Service, Parts & Customer Care, FCA—North America. “This year we’re commemorating our tenth Mopar build with another unique and collectible Dodge Challenger, which continues to be the modern muscle car every bit as beloved today as the first generation vehicle was 50 years ago.”

In the U.S., the Mopar ’19 Dodge Challenger starts at an MSRP of $45,835, with dealer orders opening in September. FCA expects to start shipping them to dealers in the fourth quarter of 2019.

While all of the factory-customized Mopar special editions have had limited runs—about 4,000 vehicles have been built across the 10-year series—the Mopar ’19 Dodge Challenger will be extra limited. Only 100 units—90 for the U.S. and 10 for Canada—will be included in the production run, FCA says.

Pre-packaged customized performance, and pre-packaged scarcity—now that is hard to beat.
