If you’re a qualified automotive aftermarket manufacturer or designer/restyler looking to show off your chops with a custom build on a 2020 Ford at SEMA this fall, here’s your chance—because the application window for the 2020 Ford Aftermarket Project Vehicle Program is now open, according to SEMA.

But if you still haven’t fully recovered from your post-holiday-season lethargy, it’s time to shake off that lingering New Year’s hangover and get your butt moving and your creative juices flowing: because the Part 1 application materials are due in Dearborn by January 27.

You don’t have much longer to submit Part 2, either. Detailed project proposals must be received by Ford by February 3. Further details on the 2020 Ford project vehicle program requirements and application process are available now on the SEMA website.

Among Ford’s criteria for aftermarket companies to qualify for the 2020 Ford Aftermarket Project Vehicle Program are having the willingness and financial wherewithal to spend promotional dollars, along with the ability to establish a marketing plan to promote a project vehicle.

Participants must also be current SEMA members and have a booth to display the vehicle at the 2020 SEMA Show in Las Vegas (November 3-6, 2020). Other requirements include carrying $3 million in general liability insurance coverage, $3 million in automotive liability insurance coverage, and qualified worker’s compensation coverage.

SEMA’s webpage on the 2020 Ford Aftermarket Project Vehicle Program provides the full details.

So if you’re longing to experience first hand the joys of your very own SEMA crunch—even if you haven’t yet scored your own automotive-build reality show yet—here’s your chance, with the crunch of January 27 and February 3 deadlines already upon us.

Ford will notify applicants selected to receive project vehicles on May 1—just a hair over six months before the 2020 SEMA Show.
