American Flat Track motorcycle racer Sandriana Shipman forms her own team for 2019, seeks sponsorships

Following a return to the sport late last year after recovering from serious injuries, dirt-track motorcycle racing star Sandriana Shipman officially declared her intent last week to “go solo” and form her own team.

Set to compete under the Triple Nickel Racing banner, Shipman’s new team is actively seeking sponsorships for the upcoming 2019 American Flat Track Singles season, which debuts with the Daytona TT on March 14 at Daytona International Speedway.

“After a long off-season and a lot of thought,” Shipman said, “I have decided to start off the 2019 AFT season running my own program with my Triple Nickel Racing team. I am grateful for the opportunity I was provided in the latter part of the 2018 season as I returned from injuries suffered at the Texas Half-Mile, and I’m excited about this new venture—and looking to pursue new partnerships and opportunities moving forward.”

According to the American Flat Track website, Shipman was injured in a “horrific crash” in the 2018 Texas Half-Mile in Fort Worth, when she “lost the front in the second qualifying session and was struck by another rider.”

Among the damage was a re-break of a leg that already had a plate from treatment of a fracture nine years earlier, as well as a lacerated liver, a bruised lung, and fractures in her right wrist and left hand.

“Obviously, it takes healthy support to make the West coast swing beginning in late April with the Arizona Super TT, and I’m actively pursuing partners to help make it all happen so I can run the entire season and not just the East coast and Midwest races.” Shipman said. “I’ve got a brand-new Honda CRF450R race bike and feeling better mentally and physically than I have in a long time, so I’m really excited about the season and the opener at Daytona.” Among what the last week’s announcement characterizes as a wide range of sponsorship opportunities are promo spots on Shipman’s leathers, hauler, and paddock tent.
