Classic car owners from around the western U.S. and beyond converged on Mesquite, Nevada, last weekend, to display nearly 900 vehicles and compete for prizes in the 11th annual Mesquite Motor Mania, a three-day event featuring a variety of exhibitions including burnout competitions, open-header cruises, and slow drags.

The annual event is organized by casino and golf-resort operator Mesquite Gaming, owner of Virgin River Hotel/Casino/Bingo, CasaBlanca Resort-Casino-Golf-Spa, and The Palms Golf Club.

Among the winners of more than $15,000 in cash and prizes in the car show were:

  • Gary Warner of Burley, Idaho, who took Best in Show honors with his 1950 Studebaker
  • Bill Williams of West Valley, Utah, Peoples Choice Winner for his 1932 Ford Roadster
  • Mike Swanson of Yorba Linda, California, Participant’s Pick winner for his 1961 Chevy Convertible

“The 11th annual Motor Mania did not disappoint,” said Christian Adderson, corporate sales manager for Mesquite Gaming. “This year, we saw thousands of travelers and families come out to see these incredible vehicles and experience the thrilling lineup of events each day.”

Prior to the classic car event, Mesquite Gaming also honored talented students in their third annual Mesquite Art Contest. Greg Hermosillo, a student at Charles Arthur Hughes Middle School, topped the field as overall art contest winner, rewarded with a $1,000 donation from Mesquite Gaming for his school’s art department as well as a pizza and bowling party for himself and 20 friends.

According to Mesquite Gaming, CEO Anthony Toti was so impressed with the entire field of art submissions that he also decided to award a $500 donation to each participating school. Information about future events organized by Mesquite Gaming will be posted at casablancaresort.com.
